AIG Travel Insurance
Basic Travel insurance is available through the cruise line. But to cover flights, hotels, and other items not booked through Royal Caribbean, more comprehensive insurance is available through AIG Travel Guard and Allianz. The sample pricing below is based on the total cost to cover two travelers, with a trip cost of $2800. Click here to compare coverage. You purchase a plan to cover your “insurable trip costs”.
- Essentially, you only add prepaid, non-refundable expenses to a travel insurance plan. In other words, you can only insure the amount of prepaid costs that will not be refunded entirely in the event of a covered cancellation.
- Typically, these expenses comprise of airline tickets, cruise costs, and even hotels, tours, and prepaid excursions. Almost all plans insure expenditures like event tickets or theme park admissions too.

Pre-existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver
It is important to purchase trip insurance within 15 days of the initial deposit for any segment of your trip in order for any pre-existing condition waivers to be effective.
The Royal Caribbean plan has a limitation for pre-existing conditions (review their plan or contact them for specific questions at 866-562-7625). By purchasing a plan with a waiver, it is possible to be covered for medical issues on your trip despite a pre-existing medical condition, as defined in the policy. Generally, pre-existing medical conditions are excluded on our travel insurance policies, and only new medical conditions/injuries are covered. But the waiver can override that exclusion, so if you have a pre-existing medical condition or are traveling with someone who does, this is an important one!

TRAVELLING USING A BIRTH CERTIFICATE
What if the name on my identification doesn’t match the name on my reservation?
It is important that the name on your reservation be exactly as it is stated on your passport or other official proof of nationality. If your name has changed since your document was issued (e.g., marriage or divorce), it is required that you update the document with the new name or provide an official supporting document (e.g., a state, county or province issued marriage license, divorce decree or legal name change document) of the name change. All documents must be the original or a notarized copy. Additionally, if you are using an identification (e.g., driver’s license) and a citizenship document (e.g., birth certificate), then BOTH documents must match the name on your reservation. Otherwise, it may result in delay or possible denial of boarding.
